hyperexponential (hx) today announces a new phase in its strategic partnership with Aviva, with the insurer leading hx’s AI beta programme to explore the capabilities of the newly launched Actuarial Agent within hx Renew.

Over the next six months, Aviva’s commercial underwriting office will work closely with hx to test and explore how this AI-driven tool can increase pricing sophistication, streamline workflows and unlock new opportunities in digital underwriting, maximising benefits for its Global, Corporate & Specialty (GCS) clients and brokers.

The Actuarial Agent will support a range of targeted use cases designed to augment the expertise of Aviva’s underwriters and brokers, such as enhancing pricing tools with new insights and optimising existing model code.

The insights from this collaboration will help shape the ongoing development of AI within hx Renew, ensuring that tools such as the Actuarial Agent and Data Ingestion Library continue to evolve and provide tangible, meaningful value to actuarial and underwriting teams across the insurance industry.

Karen Dayal, Chief Underwriting Officer for Commercial Lines, at Aviva, said:

“We’re pleased to be strengthening our partnership with hyperexponential as we continue to advance our digital underwriting capabilities for our Global, Corporate & Specialty business, reinforcing our leadership in London Market pricing.

“By leveraging hx Renew AI – including the new Actuarial Agent – and a suite of other AI-powered tools, we’ll be evaluating how artificial intelligence can augment the expertise of our underwriters and brokers. This includes enhancing pricing precision, optimising workflows, and supporting smarter, faster decision-making across our GCS portfolio and beyond.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with hx to help shape the future of intelligent underwriting and support Aviva’s ambitions in London Market pricing innovation – ultimately delivering even greater value for our clients and brokers.

Amrit Santhirasenan, CEO and Co-founder of hyperexponential, added:

“It’s hugely meaningful to have such engaged market leaders like Aviva as part of our AI program. Aviva really values the need to innovate and explore what is feasible with data, automation and AI, which makes the process extremely rewarding.

“We're deploying a broad suite of AI-first functionality to give pricing teams access to next-generation capabilities, and this partnership is a crucial step in determining how AI can change the insurance pricing process for the better."

Aviva now runs 23 live models in hx Renew across a wide range of commercial lines, including recent additions such as Political Violence and Terrorism and Legal Indemnities. Aviva was also the first company to directly connect hx Renew with underwriting portal Touchstone, showcasing the platform’s flexibility and interoperability.
